Midway Reminder - Pretty in Pink

Happy Hump Day, Friends! Today I’m sharing some inspiration for our “Pretty in Pink” challenge at Midweek Magnolias.  You still have a whole week to create something to share with us for a chance to win a Mystery Prize from Magnolia Sweden.

My card this week features the adorable new “Sneaky Tilda” and “Napoleon the Cat” from the 2014 Animals of the Year collection. I colored my image with Copics and used some Glamour Dust for Tilda’s dress to give it a little pizzazz.

The DPs this time are from Magnolia and Pion Design. I love the shade of green from Pion with this new Magnolia paper.

Challenge 103 at Craft Your Passion

Hello, Friends and Happy Monday. I am going to make my post very short today as I am really busy. We are definitely feeling like spring in Colorado with the old familiar birdsong that only sounds here at this time of year.

Our new challenge is up at Craft Your Passion and this week our theme is “Monochromatic.” Our wonderful sponsor this week is Delicious Doodles. Check out their store as they have so many awesome choices for all occasions.
For my card this week I used Leaping Dolphins.
I had originally planned to color them with Copics to make them really stand out but they do so on their own.
Here is a peek at the inside of my card.

I’m entering this card in the following Challenges:

Challenge #102 for CYP

Hello, Friends and Happy Monday. We are looking a lot like Spring here on the ranch in Colorado. Lots of gorgeous weather with temps in the 70s. My flower gardens are looking quite green and after hubby spent some time on it this weekend clearing dead leaves and debris we are seeing lots of early spring flowers breaking ground and a couple of Crocus and violets already flowered. I believe I have a bunch of Daffodils in the garden as well and when we bought the ranch last summer I had mentioned to the previous owners that I'm allergic to these gorgeous yellow beauties. So I hoped that they would remove them but I’m not sure as the green stemming looks to me like something that will make me turn into a plump red strawberry if I touch them. And itch, OMG, itch until I’m purple. So I will be watching and hubby will be digging if that is what they are. I was never allergic to these until about 8 years ago. When we (and by we I mean I) age our bodies change and with that change comes CIAOS!!! J

"Craft Your Passion - Challenge #102"
Our new challenge is up at Craft Your Passion and this week our theme is “No image, but make your sentiment the focal point.” Our wonderful sponsor this week is Simon Says Stamp. They have so many awesome products in the store. So stop over and check them out.
For my card this week I used a new technique I learned from an Archiver’s card making class I took a few weeks ago featuring the Tim Holtz Distress Ink  Stains. First I stamped a Hero Arts background stamp with Versamark ink, covered it with Seafoam embossing powder and heat set the image. Then I used the Distress Ink stains to color in the areas left from the embossed image. The colors I used were Pealed Paint, Scattered Straw and Victorian Velvet. This created my background paper for the card.
I also used some new embossing powders to create a blended effect for my Stampendous sentiment. The embossing colors are Wild Plum, Butterscotch and Lettuce from Adirondack. My lace trim is from Martha Stewart and I also stained it with Scattered Straw before gathering and adhering it to the card. My die cuts are from Spellbinders and the flowers are Hero Arts also stained with the Distress Ink colors. To finish the card I used some Hero Arts pearls and gems to match my color theme on my flowers and randomly around the card.

Beary Sweet

Hello, Friends and Happy Monday. I hope all of you that are at CHA are enjoying all that crafting camaraderie and you’re not working or playing too hard. Personally I’d rather be in sunny California then going to the office of my corporate world this morning.

Craft Your Passion has a new challenge for you this week and our theme is “Beary Sweet.” So I made a  card with this cute little Bear couple digi from Crafty Sentiments, our sponsor this week.
My DPs are from BoBunny and cardstock is Bazzill. I machine stitched all of my pattern paper panels using a zigzag stitch for some added texture. I colored my image with Copics and used a wash cloth saturated with colorless blending solution for a soft teddy bear effect. My sentiment was cut from a Cuttlebug die and added to a stamped frame from Hero Arts.
I finished it off with a ribbon bow from my stash, flowers from WOC and leaves from my Martha Stewart punch.
These are the Copics I use to color my “Beary Sweet” image. I hope you can join us for this week’s challenge.

I’m entering this card in the following challenges.

"Playful Pink & Happy Yellow"

Here is my submission for the Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog.

I used one of my favorite Magnolia Stamps for this card challenge, Tilda with Sunflower. Since I don't have the coordinating Magnolia Sunflower stamps I made my own flowers. I used two daisy punches, one small, one large and layered two cuts from each to create the sunflower petals. Then I punched circles for each center and added flock for dimension. Tilda's sunflower also got a coating of flock.

Here are the Copics I used to color Tilda.

Supplies
Stamps: Tilda with Sunflower, Magnolia; Smile, Hero Arts
Pattern Papers: Lemonade, Basic Grey
Cardstock: Yellow, Bazzill; Brown, Archivers
Dies: Marianne Designs; George Cricut cartridge, Provocraft
Punches: Marvy Uchida, McGill
Embellishments: Shear Yellow Ribbon; buttons, SEI; Pearls, Reflections; Brown Velvet Flock, Doodlebug Designs

I hope you enjoyed my card.

Thanks for stopping by...

New Projects

Hello Friends,
I've been really crazy busy at work this week. I made a couple cards last weekend but I also worked as well so I didn't get my post up on Monday as I planned.

Anyway, these cards are not your typical seasonal cards like you'd expect but who could think about making fall or Christmas cards when it was 80 degrees out? Yeah...80 degrees on Saturday and 76 on Sunday. And today we had snow. Uh huh, that would be Colorado...lol But I love the weather here 'cause it is truly mild.

So I have a couple cards to share with you that I used some new pattern papers I bought recently and some new techniques. My new paper packs are the DCWV Linen Closet and the Cafe Mediterranean which has some of my favorite color combos, (blue & brown) and (orange & turquoise). I just love both of these combos.

This cute little Tilda stamp is actually from the Spooky Halloween collection and she has a broom behind her but I cut it off before I adhered it to the card.

I also made these cute little poppy flowers myself. I gave them several sprays of Turquoise and Iridescent Glimmer mist before I assembled them. I'll have to post a tutorial because these were so easy and I used an element I've not come across on YouTube or Vimeo tutorials and there are a lot of "How to" videos out there; believe me.

I've also been into making these sweet little boxes with my "very cool" MS scoring tool. They really serve as a dimensional envelope, but I always put them in another shipping envelope if they need to go through the post. I love creating coordinating elements for my cards. It just adds a little touch of elegance and creativity.

Here are the Copics I used to color Tilda.

This one was so fun to color. I used this sweet little C.C. Designs Swiss Pixie stamp called "Leisel and her Wheelbarrow" from All That Scraps. I've had it for some time but never used it and I just thought these colors would fit her very well.

I loved using my MS Butterfly border punch so I cut a few individually from turquoise cardstock and adhered them to the flowers. They also got a coat of stickles for some sparkle.

I made the large yellow rose and the tiny yellow rosebuds from the matching yellow cardstock. It was so simple and very fun to be able to coordinate the embellishments without having to run out to the store.

Here are the Copic colors I used for Leisel.

I also made this "Autumn Wishes" card for the CMC Copic Challenge Group. The challenge was "Fall" and I adore these Stampendous stamps with all the furry little wildlife animals. There's a squirrel, chipmunk, bunny and porcupine in the collection as well.

Well, I'm off to get my "Playful Pink & Happy Yellow" Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog card finished so I can post that. It will be on my blog sometime tomorrow.

Happy wishes to all...

Cathy
